Staghorn Sumac (Rhus typhina) is the largest sumac variety in North America; it grows well in a wide variety of soils except clay soils. The fall colours are what make this shrub a popular choice, ranging from bright red to yellow. Fast growing and spreads by rhizomes; might need to be pruned back to control size.
