Description

Bur Oak (Quercus macrocarpa) is one of the slower growing oaks, but a good choice for urban areas as it is quite tolerant of heavy air pollution. Adapts to a wide variety of soil types (even clay), but prefers loamy soils in sunny locations. Make sure you have a lot of space for this oak as the roots are very competitive. Creates a wonderful, shade-giving canopy if given plenty of space to grow. Bright fall colours.
