Bunchberry

Cornus canadensis

Description

Are you looking for a nice groundcover for your shady moist conditions? Bunchberry also known as creeping dogwood is a semi-evergreen sub shrub that has beautiful star-shaped blooms which are white-creamy in colour and appear in late spring to early summer.  Red clustered berries that appear in the fall attract various birds. Although bunchberry berries are edible, they are not a popular choice due to a big seed inside. Please note that this shrub can also grow well in partial shade.
