Description

American Hazelnut (Corylus americana) is a  deciduous shrub that makes a nice shade plant for your yard and is a popular habitat for birds and small wildlife.  It grows best in well-drained locations but it is hardy to a variety of growing conditions. Nuts can be roasted and eaten or ground into flour.  This shrub likes space to grow out and can become quite wide if left to its own devices. Produces a range of fall colours. This plant is monoecious (male and female parts on the same plant), however planting more than one may increase fruit production.
