An easy-to-grow, wide-spreading bush that provides year-round interest, with showy white flowers in the spring, followed by a rich burgundy colour in the fall, and blue berries in winter. This shrub prefers average loam soil in sunny or partly shaded locations. It makes a great privacy hedgerow, or can be pruned back to a small tree by removing suckers at the base. The berries provide a consistent food source for birds right into the winter and they are edible right off the bush and popular in jams and jellies. Prune back old flower heads to promote new flowers.
